The Brushes And Cloths Used In Automatic Car Washes Cause Damage To Vehicles By Stripping
The Wax Protectant And Dulling The Paint Finish
PRESS RELEASE ~ 06-14-08
BOSTON, MA - Automatic car washes rely on spinning nylon bristle brushes and/or clothes to scrub
the dirt off the exterior surface of the automobile. Because friction is used as the primary method
of cleaning, very little soap is used and many times the water they use is not particularly clean.
Any automatic car wash system that relies on some type of material that comes into direct contact with the
car's paint finish has the potential to instill scratches in the paint or clearcoat. It doesn't matter how
soft or state-of-the-art their system is, if the car or truck that was run through the car wash before you
was dirty, the dirt that was removed from that car or truck is still in the system and imbedded in the cloths.
These contaminated cloths act like sandpaper rubbing across the surface of the paint scratching and
dulling the finish; depreciating the resale value of the vehicle.
According to David J. Mazzarella, President and CEO of Mazzarella Car Care, automatic car washes
which touch your vehicle with brushes or cloths are not recommended if you want to keep your paints
finish scratch-free and the resale value high. Just because the car wash states it is a "Brushless Car Wash"
does not mean it is TOUCHLESS. True touchless car washes use only high-pressure water jets and detergents to
clean the car without physically touching it at all. There is virtually no chance of your vehicle suffering
any cosmetic damage this way keeping the resale value high.
Mazzarella Car Care Systems, LLC (MCCS) researches and develops bio-degradable, environmentally safe
chemicals and transforms them into professional grade automobile appearance products that help auto
enthusiasts and people who are into their vehicles get better results faster from the time spent cleaning &
waxing cars.
